A new large-scale facility is currently being planned and developed by an international collaboration at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY in Hamburg, Germany. TESLA - the acronym stands for:

A ccelerator
opens up new possibilities for both research and a broad range of applications in a variety of fields. Characterized by an unusual degree of versatility, the new facility is ideally suited to form the heart of an innovative, interdisciplinary research and development center.
